I really love serial killer stories and that gore scenes and this book was very powerful!
In one side we have Rick McCoy, that is investigation the murder of a women, and in the other side we have Paul, the serial killer.

Both sides are very but very descriptive but the Paul part? OMG you enter in his mind and even if is not easy you actually learn a lot about him (past, present, why, how, what and who)

The book start as any thriller book: someone disappear and appear a month later. Investigation is started until comes to a dead end. But that change everything when the killer decide to contact Rick directly. And that's when everything start to be like a web: Did Rick know the killer? Why the killer is murdering like that? Is Rick the connected with the murders? Why that victims?

All characters are well done as the back story: Rick have is job and it's his mission to protect everyone but got marital problems. It is very interesting to see that even trying professional and personal will mix in a way or other.

Paul (the killer) you can see that he is not "normal" but I was unable to actually blame him for being like this: if you see (and understand) his past you may also see how it will end... So was he born like that and life make sure to develop that evil part or was the all experiences that made him like that?

Her Romeo by Quinn Marlowe

Language: English

Format: ebook

Pages: 209

Genre: Mafia Romance

Rating: 5

"She's my best friend from childhood. The girl I thought I loved once. And the woman who just threatened to put me in jail, courtesy of the case she's prosecuting in court. She's also now my prisoner.
Sloane Brennan thought she was on top of the world. Hell, she was on top of the world. But she's also the daughter of my father's enemy, and when my father decides to kidnap her and use her as leverage against her own father, then puts me in charge of watching over her...
Let's just say it puts ideas in my head. Bad, bad ideas. Ideas that I've been fantasizing about for years.
After all, I'm supposed to be taking care of her while she's under the Rossi umbrella, right? And no one actually defined what that means. Right?
When the plan goes awry, though, and it becomes apparent that Sloane's life is actually in danger and my feelings run a whole lot deeper than I realized, I have to recalculate my actions, and decide whether my loyalty is to the family... or the girl I've always loved."

This book start 3 years after the prequel and once again MCs cross paths again but this time danger in in every corner.
They love/hate each other: he is the heir of the rival family of Sloan and they used to be best friends in kids. Not only that but Sloan actually is lawyer and against Joseph's family style.
I fall in love with the prequel and now even more but I'm made with Quinn: how dare you to end the book like that?

Now I need to wait until May for the next book!

*Her Romeo is the second book of three in Sloane and Joseph's story, and is a dark mafia romance and includes violence and mature sexual themes. If you’re triggered by guns, sex, rape, or murder, this isn’t the series for you.*

"Tempest Swan is out for revenge. Billionaire Leonard Allred's software program has put her out of a job. She makes a bet with a friend that she'll get Leonard to take her on a date so she can get retribution, but a fortuitous accident with an adorable nerd might just derail her vengeance.

Leonard has reasons for hiding his identity from the public. It's worked well for him so far, until he starts falling for the honest and witty Tempest. But how can he destroy their budding romance by admitting he's actually the guy she hates?"

It's a good story really but it didn't hit me as expected ! (probably because is not one of my favorite genre)

Making a bet when you are drunk is not a good move at all but also it's the funniest one that comes like that.

I related with Tempest... the fact that it took long to admit the true is not easy to put behind.

And the family situation? WOW! I was all the time expecting they get along so I keep reading to find out how and when and believe me, for moments I though they will not get together at all or ruin the parents wedding.

It's a perfect book for Valentine day if you want to melt with the story ๐Ÿ˜Š

A very Rossi Christmas by Quinn Marlowe

Language: English

Format: Ebook

Pages: 80

Genre: Mafia Romance

Rating: 4⭐

WARNING: This story includes violence and mature sexual themes. If you’re triggered by guns, sex, rape, or murder, this isn’t the series for you.

I really enjoyed this prequel and can't wait for "Her Romeo" coming out in February.

Sloane and Joseph were secret best friends until they graduate.

They never got a chance since they’re from opposing families.

Her father is one of the biggest mob bosses in New York and his father is the other. Result? the families hate each other.

So when these two accidentally meet after a five year well you can expect feelings everywhere and out of control.

I loved dual POVs (if correctly done, you get into all characters without any problem or feeling lost). In tis novel it was a plus to know better Sloane and Rossi.

If you like Mafia Romance, it's a most real new serie.

If you like Romeo and Juliet forbidden love vibes, "touch her you'll die" trope, romance and some spice please feel free to get this book and pre-order the volume 1 ๐Ÿ˜‰

Genre:  paaranormal romance

Rating: 5

Thank you to The Wild Rose Press and to Bookstagrammers.com for providing me this book!

This is the 10th book of a series but you don't need to read the previous ones to understand this story but I would suggest you to start the serie if you like paranormal, romance and suspense! ๐Ÿ˜‰

About the book itself before my review:

"Peyton Reynolds has no idea that the gorgeous summer day she is enjoying is about to take a strange turn and embroil her and her boyfriend Jaxon Kincaid in another case. As the details emerge, it won’t take long for them to understand there is nothing normal about the murder Peyton has witnessed. An erratic suspect, a gathering of ghosts, and Peyton’s sudden disappearance will leave Jaxon scrambling for answers in the pages of a book left behind. They will have to think outside the box with help from the past to solve this one."

I loved this book! The way the author mixed fantasy with mystery and romance. We have ghosts, police officers that understand that particular family gift and we have murders! I mean.... Perfect!

It was very easy to read and understand the book and I loved how the character development is done is this plot!

The way Peyton and her cousin are very close and how Jaxon and Matt actually are working in a relation to make sure both couples are happy with that "gift/curse" was really sweet to read.

The suspense was killing me and I wanted more and more! And got it very soon in the book!

A Corpse For Christmas by Rena Leith

Language: English

Format: PDF

Pages: 184

Genre: Cozy Mystery

Rating: 4

"Cass Peake's web design company accepts a job to bolster the local college's efforts in attracting new students. With the winter break, she and her colleagues expect a very quiet campus. What they don't anticipate is the reunion of a strange secret society called The Black Triangle Club on the grounds… and a dead body. Then corpses start piling up like gifts under a Christmas tree. Coincidence or not?

With the help of her ghostly friend Doris and other allies, Cass works frantically to uncover the real killer. But it might take a real holiday miracle to solve this Yuletide mystery."

This book have mystery, Christmas vibe and it was easy to read and to understand even if its the book 3...

Since I was focused in not 1 but 3 murders, I simply ignored the fact that Cass have a past that maybe make more sense if I've read the previous books.

I wasn't excepting that resolution of the case but seems logical even if my expression was a total chock. I mean wealthy people usually can get away from a lot of problems.... but it was how easy is to claim something not totally true that made my rating go to 4. The resolution of how the murderer will be convicted just drop my expectations but it make sense at the end. (let's be open mind)

My list of suspects was quite... little. (at first it was 2, pass to 1 and comes back to 2 but with a feeling that THAT character was the one!) So I was happy with myself as soon as the murdered was found and was the one I suspected!

I liked more Doris than the rest of the characters. Probably because she is a ghost, she can change outfit and go outside with Thor (the big cat that Cass have). But also because she is very credible and a comfort. (can't denied that I though she was really done in some point ๐Ÿ˜”)

Special thank to Bookstagrammers.com Program and Cameron to provide me the possibility to read a Cozy book :)

Shadowed Eden by Katie Clark (Free edition from Editor)

Language: English
Format: PDF
pages: 296
Genre: YA, Christian Fiction
Rating: 3⭐

I received this book from the editor for free with the program Bookstagrammers.com

This is a Christian Fiction and so my first book under that genre too... but it end up been more mystery and I got a good feeling from the description.

It wasn't what I expected from but it was an interesting read. However it didn't was a WOW read at all.

The beginning was promising and the way they try to understand how they ended there was also a very good point BUT after a couple of trips into the jungle I found that the action was simply not there and that it was a repeating from the last time they got inside!
I mean they go there a lot to find the lost girls and water but nothing happens.... it's a damn forest! We only see 1 monkey inside the forest and snakes attacking the camp and Avery se beetles everywhere....
Every trip was really only for search, no real interaction between Luca and Avery even if he really want to talk with her about them.

A point that was a minus for me was the lack of information about the past of the characters. We know for sure Luca and Avery lost someone important and each one is or was in a different stage of grave but we really don't know for example why everyone label Avery as "crazy" and don't talk to her or why Benny act like that way or the backstory of June regarding cancer.... I was really hoping to know more about Benny for example but it didn't happens...

Also I noticed that God was missing in this all story! Ok we have prayers and songs but never he appear in the story! Rae is definitely an angel in guard of Eden and Rafa is the devil but apart of that... No God.... And for me it was very strange since it's all around his biggest creation

But in general is was a good book...
